ABOUT THE ARTIST
Melissa Madigan is an artist and designer based out of Gimuy (Cairns) – Tropical North Queensland, with a special interest in Australiana and hand-embroidery. One hot January day in Melbourne, 2019, Melissa decided to have a go at embroidery, having never sewn anything in her life and soon found she had a penchant for detailing Australian flora and fauna into fabric. Supported by an encouraging community on Instagram, Melissa was quickly commissioned for works ranging from wattles to Lyrebirds, baby naming gifts and wedding bouquets, a collaboration with FjallRaven Kanken, and most recently trading an embroidery artwork for a tattoo.
