For our first small-batch release of ‘23, we experimented with a classic – the American Pale Ale. Pouring a radiant copper hue and carrying a slight haze, the hops shine in #172 with classic American varieties such as Cascade, Centennial, Loral and Simcoe. Joining the party is ‘Zappa’, an unconventional, yet entirely US native hop, as well as the oils from ‘Trident’. The hops were carefully layered at different intervals to accentuate the deep, complex aroma of citrus, fresh flowers, herbs, pine and resin with a hint of spice. Bready, biscuity and toffee notes from the malt balance the the hoppy notes, while an upfront sweetness is balanced by a biting bitterness on the aftertaste. #172 aims to capture the refreshing American craft beer spirit with a heavy flair of novel hops – we love this beer and hope you do too!
