Daniel Bibby is an independent filmmaker based in Brisbane, Australia, whose life has always revolved around cinema. His passion for film began at a young age, sparked by hours spent in his local video store — a place where genres collided and imagination had free rein. That early obsession never faded. In 2015, Daniel graduated from the New York Film Academy’s Gold Coast campus with a Diploma of Screen and Media, sharpening his skills in storytelling, production, and visual craft.
Since then, he’s immersed himself in every angle of the industry, from managing an independent cinema in Brisbane to writing and directing his own projects. His sophomore short film, Half Past Midnight, explores themes of time, chance, and the surreal edges of everyday life. The film reflects his love of genre storytelling while proving his ability to create atmosphere and tension on screen. The stills and promotional imagery from Half Past Midnight showcase his eye for framing — moody, textured visuals that linger in the imagination.
At Aether Brewing, we featured Half Past Midnight and its striking film still as the artwork for our Oaked Black IPA. Just like the beer, the piece carries richness, depth, and a touch of darkness. The imagery is cinematic yet intimate, resonating with the layered, roasted malt character and the oak finish of the beer. It’s a pairing that speaks to patience, craft, and the way art — whether on screen or in the glass — can transport you somewhere unexpected.
