Meanjin/Brisbane artist Isobel Kingswell paints the natural world with a post-anthropocentric lens – careful observation of place, season, and the more-than-human rhythms that hold everything together. After completing a Masters of Visual Art at Griffith, she spent time in Brunswick Heads, letting the Northern Rivers’ quiet shape a body of landscapes built from slow looking and structural curiosity.
Her work’s calm intelligence made an ideal fit for Aether’s program: labels that don’t just decorate but deepen the experience of what’s inside. Kingswell’s canvases feel like weather maps of feeling – patient, precise, and tuned to the frequencies we usually rush past. That’s our kind of craft.
