Bio & Rationale
Jack Mira is a Brisbane-based artist whose practice reflects the cultural currents running through the city. His paintings balance the internal landscape of memory and mood with the external landscapes of streets, people and place. The result is work that feels both optimistic and contemplative – rooted in the lived experience of Brisbane but resonant far beyond it.
He is drawn to dualities: people and place, optimism and melancholy, reality and imagination. His works often shift between clarity and abstraction, capturing the tension of living in a city that is constantly changing. Each canvas is a meditation on connection – how environments shape us, and how we in turn shape them. His paintings feel sensitive and personal yet open, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own role within shared spaces. That quality gives his work a strong voice in the contemporary Brisbane art scene.
For Aether, Jack’s artwork was featured on our Kölsch. The beer itself is crisp and straw-gold, with subtle floral and citrus notes, and his painting echoed that balance of tradition and experimentation. Just as the Kölsch style is light yet complex, his art captured nuance and subtle shifts in tone, rewarding repeated viewing. The collaboration was a reminder that beer, like painting, doesn’t always need to be loud to make an impact – sometimes it’s the quiet balance that stays with you longest.
