Bio & Rationale
Jon Weber is a Brisbane-based illustrator whose art leans into the weird, the fantastic, and the dark. His practice pulls equally from myth and pulp, turning childhood obsessions with fantasy and horror into a lifelong artistic pursuit. Jon studied fine art at Queensland College of Art before spending time in London, where he ran a gallery and immersed himself in Europe’s creative underground. Over time, he gravitated back to the world that first captured his imagination: surreal landscapes, ominous figures, and dreamlike narratives that sit between beauty and unease.
His work spans traditional media — oils, acrylics, watercolour, ink, and charcoal — and has appeared everywhere from tabletop games and heavy metal album covers to theatre productions and children’s books. Regardless of format, Jon’s art is tied together by a drive to keep imagination alive and unfiltered.
For Aether Brewing, Jon’s piece Charon Approaches was chosen for our Peanut Butter Stout. It’s a match of rich flavour and visual storytelling — a label that captures the stout’s depth while hinting at the shadowy, mythic worlds Jon conjures. His art and our beer share a common thread: both invite you to step into something familiar but twisted, comforting yet uncanny.
