Bio & Rationale
Mitchell Bennett is a New South Wales–based artist whose work explores the magnetic pull of abstraction. Captivated by the rhythm of chaos and the balance it demands, Mitchell paints with a kind of measured spontaneity – each stroke a dialogue between control and surrender. His canvases hum with movement and energy, translating the noise of existence into vibrant, layered compositions that feel alive.
Mitchell’s practice draws inspiration from the world around him – not in a literal sense, but in how texture, light, and emotion translate into visual rhythm. Colour and form become language. Each piece becomes a meditation on perception, inviting viewers to slow down, look closer, and find their own reflection somewhere inside the chaos. Beneath the abstraction, there’s structure; within the structure, a pulse.
His oil painting Tangle embodies that tension beautifully. The work sits between organic abstraction and raw dynamism, a storm of interlocking forms that feel both spontaneous and deliberate. It’s a visual push-and-pull – the moment before order collapses or the instant chaos resolves. The painting captures the sensation of being both immersed and overwhelmed by a beautifully entangled system.
At Aether Brewing, Tangle was chosen for its kinetic energy – that same restless balance of movement and stillness we chase in our beers. It’s art that doesn’t sit still, mirroring the creative process behind every pour: deliberate craft inside beautiful disorder.
