Vietnamese Coffee Cream Ale
For Mongrel Bar’s last birthday beer, we brewed a Vietnamese Iced Coffee Stout. It was a delicious success, but like other brewers inspired by Cà Phê Sữa Đá, it proved difficult to recreate the condensed milk creaminess.
This year, for the sake of evolution and a bit of fun, we’ve taken full creative licence and brewed a Vietnamese Coffee Cream Ale. With its hazy golden appearance, it combines creamy sweetness with the flavour of dark roasted coffee beans. Slightly buttery and super sweet from added milk sugar, a yeast-driven aroma brings a tropical fruit flair to top it all off.
It finishes with a light coffee bitterness and an incredibly full body – think our Earl Grey Crème Brûlée from GABS 2022, but with a coffee-forward edge.
